2020 has been a year unlike any other. Among the wildness and chaos that has perpetrated the lives of millions of Americans, there have also been a few pleasant surprises. We’ve seen revivals of drive-in movie theatres, at-home workouts, and even the Cincinnati Bengals. Well maybe not complete revivals, but something is brewing in western Ohio. No it’s not the return of Ohio State football or the return of the King to whatever is left of the Cavaliers franchise, but it’s the return of a quarterback to the Cincinnati football team. Yes, the slightly-prettier twin sister of the Cleveland Browns has finally found a good franchise quarterback in a kid named Joe Burrow. Gone are the days of the Red Rifle Andy Dalton throwing to wide-open defensive backs as Joe “Cover the Spread” Burrow is already a legend in the making. Here’s why…

Despite the Bengals sitting at 1-4-1 on the season, Joe Burrow has turned last year’s worst football team into a threat towards opposing spread bettors. In fact, Burrow has waged total war against opposing bettors as the self-described “winner” has gone 4-2 ATS so far in his rookie campaign. It seems that Burrow takes any notion of being an “underdog” personally, as the 23-year old surpassed any and all expectations in his limited time as a transfer QB at LSU. Like in the NFL, Burrow absolutely crushed opposing bettors there, as he led LSU to an undefeated season, won a national championship, and he even took home Heisman honors at 200-1 odds. While the Bengals are no team to brag about at present, Burrow always gives them a shot to win games. So the main point here is: just know who you are betting against.

The Bengals have an interesting slate of games in the coming weeks. First off is the Cleveland Browns at home next week. Coming off a blowout divisional loss, the Browns will look to prove they belong while the Bengals need to regroup after a demoralizing loss to the Colts. Opening lines for the game have the Browns as -4.5 favorite as -200 favorites. While Browns DE Myles Garrett will pummell his way through Cincinnati’s make-shift offensive line next week, any bet against Burrow and the Bengal’s spread is surely a questionable lock at best.

There is tremendous value in betting the Bengals as double digit underdogs. While a line like -4.5 isn’t enticing, the Bengals will face several opponents over .500 that are sure to be questionable locks. Some of these opponents include the Titans, Steelers, and Ravens. If these lines prove top heavy, then who else would you rather ride with than Joey Burrow.
